MAKO PRIDE is Vista del Mar Middle school’s community service program. Its purpose is to reward and encourage students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, citizenship and community service.
Students are required to volunteer a total of 20 hours of in-school and out-of-school service. Five of these hours must be in-school service. Students are acknowledged at the end of the year for their one, two or three years of service.
Students must hold a 2.75 GPA or above, have 10 or more “Outstanding” marks in Citizenship with no N’s or U’s, and have no more than 10 absences for the school year.
If you are interested in participating in Mako Pride this year, please see Mrs. Jordan or Ms. Pollard to obtain an application. After you fill in your name on the application we will take a copy for our files and give you back your original to complete during the year.
Mako Pride Score Sheets are due on May 11, 2016. Please note that although you turn in your paperwork at this time, you may still have volunteer opportunities through the end of the school year, June 1.
When students care about their community, they learn the joy of giving back and a compassion for helping others. Go Makos! You can make a difference!
