Pennies for Patients Feb 12- Mar 7

Mr. Wachenheim’s 6th-grade Leadership students will be kicking off our annual Pennies for Patients Leukemia and Lymphoma Fundraiser on Monday, February 12th.  The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society supports research, education, advocacy, and community services.

Vista del Mar Middle School decided to embrace this fundraiser 12 years ago in honor of a VDMMS student, Katie Westland, who passed away in August of 2006.  We have had several of our Vista del Mar families who have been diagnosed with Leukemia or similar diseases, so this cause hits home with us.  We want to encourage all students to collect spare change to help researchers find a cure.

On Monday, February 12th during SSR, students will receive a flyer explaining the event along with a cardboard coin container for collections.  Students will view a brief video about Pennies for Patients.  Collection dates are as follows:  Friday, February 23rd, Friday, March 2nd and final collection on Wednesday, March 7th

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this great cause.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Wachenheim.
