Principal's Message

Welcome to Vista del Mar Middle School’s website. As principal, I am delighted to welcome all students and parents to our school.  We understand and recognize that the middle school child is unique. While they are transitioning intellectually, physically, psychologically and socially, we are committed to meeting their individual needs and challenging them utilizing structured, collaborative and innovative practices. Our school is a beautiful modern facility located in the heart of Talega, a San Clemente community.  Vista del Mar’s curriculum embraces an inquiry-based instructional program promoting critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity and action-taking. Students will become life-long, self-assessing learners demonstrating measurable growth in academic performance and social responsibility.

We are fortunate to have a strong community at Vista del Mar School as many of our students have attended since Kindergarten. There are numerous ways for students and parents to stay connected and encourage parental involvement in our PTA and Mako Educational Foundation. Both generously support our learning environment by providing funding for technology and extra-curricular activities.

Our committed and caring staff  work together to maintain high standards of academic achievement, community involvement through Mako Pride and support for all students.  We provide a rigorous, student-centered, hands-on instruction enhanced by technology in every classroom.

I am confident that your child will enjoy his or her three years at VdMMS. Middle school is a very special time and our students will take with them friends and fond memories as they transition to high school and beyond.

Sincerely,

Michelle Wrenn Benham
