Counselor's Corner

Happy National School Counselor Week (Feb 4-8)
What does a School Counselor do?

I provide services to every single student at VDMMS.

My goal for VDMMS students is to enter high school with the skills to cope with stress/anxiety, stay organized amidst multiple classes, set SMART goals for themselves, and have the social skills that allow them to assertively stand up to bullies, make good decisions, and find lifelong friends. I provide classroom lessons on these topics so that all students gain the knowledge they need in order to accomplish this goal. Some students might need some extra help, and that's ok! For these students, I run small group exercises which allow them to learn in a less structured environment and collaborate with their peers regarding these skills.
